RMA Accreditation

This section provides general information about the RMA's function to accredit persons and manners.

The Scottish Ministers have given the RMA the power and responsibility, by way of an order, to accredit persons and manners and we do this in keeping with the Accreditation Scheme Legislation.

Persons are accredited to undertake risk assessments under a Risk Assessment Order to inform the High Court's consideration of imposing an Order for Lifelong Restriction.

More detailed guidance and information on how to become an RMA accredited risk assessor is available on the following pages.

We have set out information relating to the accreditation of manners. Manners may be accredited for the purpose of the assessment and/or management of risk. This includes manners of risk assessment to be used by accredited risk assessors preparing risk assessment reports in the context of the Risk Assessment Order.
